Today is the highlight of the tour, a visit to Highclere Castle. This beautiful Castle is set amidst 1000 acres of stunning parklands and is the real home to the much-acclaimed TV series, Downton Abbey. Highclere Castle is rich in history as it was converted into a hospital for wounded soldiers in the First World War, and home to children evacuated from London in the Second World War. The gardens were first developed here in the 13th century and August is the perfect time to visit to see them in full bloom!
